September 9-11, 2010
Accredited Geothermal Installers Workshop
11.5 PDH's
Location: NYSSPE Headquarters, 6 Airline Dr., Albany, NY (MAP)
NYSSPE is now offering a new clean energy program for Professional Engineers and others to become internationally recognized installers of Ground Source Heat Pump Systems.
With this additional credential, PE’s can design and install the outside loops that circulate the heat transfer fluid. Working with interior licensed HVAC contractors, they can build together a Geothermal System for new construction or building retrofit. Many engineering firms are already organized to expand service with this new skill set.
All attendees who complete the three day course, and pass the 100 question open book test with a grade of 90% or more, become CGI’s (Certified Geothermal or Ground-Source Installers). Those who pass will have their contact information listed on the website of The International Ground Source Heat Pump Association, with free membership to the association. This is the website www.igshpa.okstate.edu
Tuition is subsidized by NYSSPE, unlike the $1295 charged at some NY Community Colleges, tuition for NYSSPE members is only $895, and $995 for non-members. This fee includes all the manuals you need, breaks and lunch for the full three days of training.
Course Instructor: Peter Tavino, PE is the only recognized IGSHPA trainer in Connecticut, where he operates Litchfield Geothermal. He has a BSCE from Union College, an MSCE from Columbia University and is LEED AP. He is the author of online Geothermal Courses for continuing PE education and teaches Geo at his local community college. He is a member of NSPE, ASCE and is licensed in Connecticut, New York and Florida.
