The NYSSPE Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for the following awards,
which will be presented at the NYSSPE Annual Meeting, June 11, 2010 at the Holiday Inn, Saratoga, NY. Nominations are
made using the nomination form found
HERE.
Nominations are due by
February 19, 2010, except for
Outstanding Achievment Award which is due February 26, 2010.
Engineer of the Year
To recognize a professional engineer who has made an outstanding contribution to the goals
of the Society of Professional Engineers by means of educational, collegiate and engineering achievements;
professional society, technical society, civic and humanitarian activities; and displayed continuing competence.
Young Engineer of the Year
To recognize a professional engineer or intern engineer 35 years of age or less (as of January 1, 2006 preceding
the Summer Annual Meeting of the Board when the award is presented) who has made an outstanding contribution to
the goals of the Society of Professional Engineers by means of educational, collegiate and engineering achievements;
professional society, technical society, civic and humanitarian activities; and displayed continuing competence.
Citizen of the Year
To recognize a non-engineer who has made an outstanding contribution related to the goals of the engineering profession
or to the Society of Professional Engineers.
Outstanding Professional Engineer in Management
To recognize a professional engineer who has made an outstanding contribution to the goals of the engineering profession
and the Society of Professional Engineers through his or her demonstrated managerial ability and achievement.
Honoree for Contribution in the Field of Education
To recognize an individual whose activities or contributions in the field of Education have broad and lasting effects
on the goals of the engineering profession or the Society of Professional Engineers.
Meritorious Service
To recognize a professional engineer who has made an outstanding contribution to the goals of the Society of Professional
Engineers over an extended period of time.
Outstanding Engineer Achievement Award
To acknowledge accomplishments of the engineering profession by recognizing outstanding engineering achievements that
have captured the innovative and dynamic spirit of a profession dedicated to public service. See

Goverment Engineer of The Year
To recognize a professional engineer in Government who, during a career in public service, has made an outstanding contribution to public health, safety and/or welfare, the engineering profession, and the goals of the Society of Professional Engineers through demonstrated managerial ability and professional engineering achievement.

Construction Professional of the Year
The nomination criteria include Professional Engineers and Registered Architects, in charge and accountable for significant construction projects in successful private firms or public agencies involved in design and construction. Additionally, the criteria included direct overseeing of professional engineering efforts in creative solutions for maintaining infrastructure as well as in the development of new technologies in the construction of future capital and infrastructure projects.
Construction Project of the Year
The nomination criteria included significant national, state or urban infrastructure construction projects, carried forward by successful private firms, national or State public agencies involved in our infrastructure design and construction. Additionally, the criteria includes construction projects that implement significant professional engineering efforts in developing creative solutions for maintaining infrastructure as well as in the development of new technologies in the construction of future infrastructure projects.
Intern of the Year
The nominations include engineer in training [EIT] or other non-licensed engineer, being honored for successfully completing a year of volunteer service to the PEC practice division and for exemplary dedication in supporting the profession of construction engineering.

Industry Professional Development Award
The New York State Society of Professional Engineers (NYSSPE) Industry Professional Development Award (IPDA) is presented to the nominated industrial employer of engineers that has made outstanding contributions to the advancement and improvement of the engineering profession through its employment policies. The purpose of the award is to recognize those companies with the best record of engineering employment practices, and to encourage all companies to adopt similar progressive policies and practices.
